UNESCO inscribed Ta Prohm on the World Heritage List in 1992. Today, it is one of the most visited complexes in Cambodia’s Angkor region. The conservation and restoration of Ta Prohm is a partnership project of the Archaeological Survey of India and the APSARA Authority for the Protection and Management of Angkor and the Region of Siem Reap.
When plans were formed in the early 20th century to stabilise and restore the great temples of Angkor, the decision was made to maintain Ta Prohm in the natural state in which it had been found as a "concession to the general taste for the picturesque. Great silk-cotton trees appear to melt into the meticulously hewn stones, binding them together or tearing them apart in an extraordinary fusion of nature and man, and a juxtaposition of order and chaos.
The best time to visit is in the late afternoon.
